Jewellery FAQs
Where are Caranina pieces made?
Our jewellery is made at our studio in Hamilton Ontario Canada.
What is Caranina jewellery made of?
We offer a variety of metals for our designs to cater to a range of budgets. We offer brass, sterling silver, and 100% recycled solid gold options for our designs. Some batches of our brass and sterling silver jewellery also contain 100% recycled content from our studio.
But rings never fit me!
We offer a range of ring sizes for our jewellery. When purchasing, you can order from sizes 2-15. We strive to be size inclusive because a lot of brands carry such limited size ranges which only fit a small range of fingers. Since we make all of our designs in house, we are able to directly go into our designs and alter sizes as needed. You can also specify on your order if you need a quarter, half, or three quarter size adjustment to your ring purchase.
Where can I see Caranina jewellery in person?
You can check out the current line up of ready made pieces at our studio via a private studio visit. Our jewellery is also available for sale at Studio 205, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. We have a selection of our collection available for wholesale - please get in touch via email if this is something you’d like to partner on.
Which chain length do I order?
We keep our offering size inclusive so we offer chain lengths from 16”- 24”. The length you may want to order depends on how you’d like the chain to sit on you, also taking into account if you tend to wear high or low neck lines. Chains sit on bodies differently, so we would recommend measuring at home (perhaps off chains you already have, or with string), how different lengths sit on you. Keep in mind your pendant will add some weight to the chain and will cause it to hang a little lower than just a plain chain sitting on your neck.
What is my ring size?
In studio, we can measure your finger or personal rings to see what fits you best. Otherwise, you can use a measuring guide online like this to try from home. Be sure to measure a few times for the most accuracy. If you’re able to pop into a jewellery shop and have them measure you, that’s always the most accurate reading - we can measure you in studio too!
Jewellery Care FAQs
Will your jewellery cause an allergic reaction on my skin?
Our jewellery is hypoallergenic (nickel free). Irritation can always be caused with rings if water gets under the band and sits there.
How do I care for brass jewellery?
Brass jewellery tarnishes with sweat and water contact so it’s best to keep it away from water. We also advise that you take off your brass jewellery when going to sleep. For some people, their skin reacts with the metal and turn their finger grey where there is skin contact. Your brass jewellery purchase will come with a polishing cloth to help keep it shiny.
How do I care for sterling silver jewellery?
Sterling silver is a great metal for daily wear. If you take off your sterling silver jewellery, store it in a dark, dry place. Sterling silver will react to water and tarnish. Try to keep it away from perfumes or sunscreen for example, as different products can also cause the sterling silver tarnish.
How do I care for solid gold jewellery?
Solid gold jewellery is hypoallergenic and tarnish resistant. You can keep your gold on for daily wear. We would advise taking it off when in a pool or hot tub, as chlorine can erode gold over prolonged exposure.
Orders and Shipping
What does it mean if the jewellery I want to purchase is ready to ship?
This jewellery is already created and ready to leave our studio to its forever home. Orders of only ready to ship jewellery will ship within 1-2 business days from purchase.
What does it mean if the jewellery I want to purchase is made to order?
Once purchased, Caranina begins the production of your jewellery piece. Typically our timeline is 2-3 weeks for production and shipment. We opt to create a lot of our designs as made to order because we don’t want to sit on excess stock. We hope our clients purchase pieces with much thought and intention, as we put in as much into production too.
What if I order a ready to ship piece along with a made to order piece?
In this case, your ready to ship item will be put aside to you and shipped together when your made to order piece is ready.
How is my order shipped?
Orders are shipped via Canada Post with tracking, to typically arrive in 1-3 business days. Depending if you ordered a ready to order piece vs a made to order piece, we will take some time putting together your order before it is shipped out. Feel free to reach out before purchasing, if you need your order by a specific date, to see if it can be accommodated.
Do you offer local pick up?
Yes! We offer daytime local pick up from our studio on weekdays and sometimes Saturdays.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Each item is packed separately with care cards and a cotton pouch for easy gifting.
